A Life Well Lived

What are your memories of university/college?

Part of teacher training! In the Welsh Marches we had to learn how we learned. My three chosen subjects were horse riding, archery and canoeing. Three disciplines never before tried.

Never went to university, didn’t know that people like me could go … I was a poor student as a child, always in the shadow of my clever sister, always told I was “not up to much” by Father and that I would be going to work in the mill once I was 15.  I later learned to love learning, gained many and varied qualifications. Was a very successful teacher at tersiary level, gained a Winston Churchill Fellowship and to this day love to learn.

Sadly my dream of an Open University course in retirement never came to pass because of financial constraints.
