A Life Well Lived
Have you taken part in any demonstrations?

The Pepperpots Ferrybridge where I joined the Ban the Bomb March 1956/7?
The only time I attended a demonstration was to support AA ( the Anti Apartheid movement). A small group of us met in City Square, Leeds, waved our banners around, shouted a couple of slogans and went home. It was a very short attendance for me as it was a Saturday and, as I worked a half day on Saturday I was not there for the first two hours! Ditto a brief attendance at the Aldermaston ( Ban the Bomb) March when it came up the A1, I went again with John Alderson who had scrounged a lift for us to “The Pepperpots” to take part. Despite my poor attendances at these and a multitude of other such gatherings, it was not for want or trying, but my work commitments that stopped me supporting these worthwhile causes. I had a lot of stick from fellow travellers whilst wearing my AA and BtB slogan badges but was able to put my reasons for the support across quite well I think. I have not changed my opinions on either of these subjects.
