Your story – Heather Scott

Is there anything in life that has made your faith stronger? Or weaker?

I have believed in God for most of my life although as a young person my faith was probably not quite so strong.  There heve been times when I have wondered about it, especially during the times of the gulf wars.  But the one time that really made me question my faith was when my mother died as she did seem to suffer those last few days, especially as my sister was adamant that why would a God allow her to suffer when she did so much for others. But questioning faith is not necessarily a bad thing as it means you are thinking about it and help it develope. One thing that helped make my faith stronger was the last year of my fathers life, he died eleven years after my mother. The year before he died my dad was really not well and it was obvious to both Sue and me that he was going down hill fast, I asked several times during my prayers that God would give me one last year with him, especially as in himself dad was giving up, and I believe that He did just that as dad was with us for one more year before he died. I truely believe that was God answering my prayer.
