Where and when was your first date?

When we went to the youth club we used to pair up with the boys but I suppose the first boy I went out with was my friend Linda Lewis’s cousin. When we lived in the cottage Linda and I wanted to hold a New Years Eve party so mum and Connie. Linda’s mum, agreed but we would have to hold it in our house and they would be in the front room. Linda invited her cousin and some of his friends one of which we both liked but Linda told her cousin that I liked him instead so that she could go out with the friend, so I suppose the first person that I went out with was Stephen Reeves, Linda’s cousin. Our first ‘date’ was a visit to the cinema in Cardiff there were a few of us me and Stephen, Linda and Stephem’s friend and a couple of others, the other girls wanted to go to see a romantic film, I wanted to see ‘Where eagles dare’ as did the boys so Stephen and I went to see ‘Where eagles dare’ and the rest of them went to see he romantic film. I remember he wanted to buy me some sweets but I declined telling him that people who eat in the cinema annoy me intensely.

Was it successful? Well, I got to see a film that I had been wanting to see for ages so from that point of view yes, but we only went out together for a few months , I probably wasn’t romantic enough or maybe girlie enough, wanting to watch a war film and declining chocolates. He was too intelligent for me anyway.
