Were your parents strict?

I don’t remember any specific house rules apart from my dad being very rigid on food if we said we didn’t like anything or wouldn’t eat anything we were not allowed anything else, I remember my dad always saying you have two choices you eat it or you go without. I don’t really remember them being overly strict as long as you were not rude to people and were respectful and do as you were told when you were told, if you didn’t then you knew about it.We had to be in at a certain time but as far as I remember it wasn’t too early.

I do remember once, I was friendly with the girl whose parents ran the local pub where mum worked, she took a packet of cigarettes from the pub that she and some others were going to smoke only she didn’t have any matches so I went and got some from home for them, I didn’t smoke as I thought they were idiots. Her parentys found out that she had taken the cigarretes and I think I owned up to my mum about getting them the matches, she didn’t tell me off but threatened to tell my dad so I begged her not to if I promised not to do it or anything like it again, we both kept our promise.

I also remember once when I was a teenager my friends from school Jeanette and Gaynor lived in a village called LLanharry and they asked me to go with them to a dance in their local hall one  Saturday night, my dad wouldn’t let me go because he remembered it being a rough place when he was young.
